And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 2:38

God created us in a way unlike anything else in His creation. Instead of speaking us into existence He lovingly formed man and breathed the breath of life into him and his wife.

But we rebelled, not just Adam and Eve, but every human who ever lived (except one). Sin is serious, it’s us rebelling against God. Sin is us telling God that we know better and that we are going to worship something else rather than the one true God who deserves our worship. God is perfectly just and has every right to punish our sin and the Bible makes it clear that the penalty for sin is death. But God mercifully has delayed His wrath and shows us His long suffering patience. This gives us time to realize our sin and repent, turning away from our sin and getting right with God.

But someone has to pay for our sin. God’s perfect justice must be satisfied. So God became a man and dwelt among us. Jesus lived a perfect life, keeping the law without sinning once and was the only innocent human who ever lived. Jesus is both fully man and fully God, the only one who could be the perfect sacrifice for sins. Jesus suffered and died to forgive His sheep.

BUT He didn’t stay dead. He rose again on the third day and appeared to over 500 people. They saw Him, talked with Him, and touched His nail scarred hands. Now Jesus is reigning in Heaven and gave us the call to tell others that there is a way to have peace with God. We must be born again.

How can you be born again? Repent and believe. To repent means to tell God you are sorry for your sins, and then you turn away from them. Then confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe that He rose victorious and is capable of forgiving your sins and ask that He adopts you as His son or daughter.

Don’t let another day go by without a relationship with your creator. Believe in God, follow Him, and you will have true peace.
